Nearly eight weeks now...
Jul. 12th, 2011 03:29 pmNearly eight weeks pregnant, that is. With my first. Our immediate family and close friends now all know. It is a bit early to be revealing the news, but we figured that these are the people that we would tell if things were to go wrong as well. My parents have actually know pretty much as soon as we know ourselves. We happened to be visiting them and as I only get to see them two or three times a year, I figured that I might as well take the opportunity to tell them in person. We were over at husband's parents during the weekend and really had no choice but to tell in order for me to avoid sitting in a cigarette smoke room all day. At least they are very understanding about me not wanting to breath in second hand smoke right now. I knew they would be, they were very accommodating when one of the other daughters in law was pregnant recently.
Except for constant exhaustion, I was feeling pretty good until I hit the six week mark. From then on forward, it has been pretty much constant nausea. Some days were worse than others, overall I could still eat pretty much normally. Until yesterday. I felt sick all day, had trouble forcing food down, and last night what little I managed to have for dinner came straight back up. Vomiting again today. It is really not fun.
Between the nausea and the tiredness, I am getting very little work done. I was hoping to finish my PhD dissertation before the little one arrives, but at this rate, no chance. They tell me it will likely get better in a few weeks time. Let's hope it will. It has been a long two weeks. I don't know how I will be able to continue to cope with this. I know I will though.
